Before acquiring or converting a property for the purpose of offering it as a vacation rental (31 days or less), the first thing to do is to verify if the zoning by-law governing your property allows short-term rentals. To do this, you must contact the inspection department of your municipality.
If it is a condo, you must also check the declaration of co-ownership, because some of them directly prohibit short-term rentals.
